Last week the Hidden Voices team received a response from Labour MP Steve McCabe, who represents the Selly Oak constituency in Birmingham. Here's what he said in his email: 'I recognise that climate change is leading us to a refugee crisis that is even more severe than the one Europe currently faces, especially in the Global South where the effects are and will continue to be felt the most. I think it is vitally important that the UK upholds the proud British tradition of honouring the spirit of international law and our moral obligation by taking our fair share of refugees and I am pleased that the Labour Party have committed to reviewing the current arrangements for housing and dispersing refugees which I believe are not fit for purpose.' We must continue to spread awareness about the existence of climate refugees to make a real change. Gaining the support of influential figures is crucial to our campaign, so thank you Mr McCabe!
