You signed the petition calling for an end to lying in politics because you believe honesty matters in public life. We wanted to start the new year by sharing what that demand for truth has helped make possible.
Compassion in Politics is the organisation behind the campaign to ban political lying. Over the past year, while trust in politics has continued to erode, we’ve been working to turn public frustration into practical change.
Our Truth in Politics campaign has already helped secure legislation in Wales, and the case is now being made in Westminster, including on the floor of the House of Commons. This is no longer a fringe idea. It is becoming a serious democratic reform with growing political support.
Alongside that campaign, we’ve been defending the right to protest, challenging the toxic culture that rewards division and dishonesty, and working with MPs, civil society and international partners to modernise our democracy so it can command trust again.
We’ve shared a short end of year update setting out what we’ve achieved, and why it matters at this moment.
You can read it here:

As we look ahead, we’re also asking supporters to help shape our priorities for 2026. If you have five minutes, we’d really value your input.

Thank you for standing up for truth, and for being part of a growing movement that believes politics should be honest, humane, and worthy of our trust.
With gratitude,
