Recent events in the US have once again shown how political power can be built on deliberate, repeated lying, making the need to protect our democracy from a Trump-like figure all the more urgent. That is why we are inviting you to join us at two Truth in Politics live events this January.
Our campaign for a law to prevent political deception would stop someone like Trump from taking office in the UK. It is a clear, simple step to defend democracy and protect it from politicians who deliberately and repeatedly lie. The Welsh Parliament has introduced legislation inspired by our campaign, and support in Westminster is growing.
But we also need to build public support.
So, we are taking our campaign for truth in politics on the road.
Together with bestselling author and climate expert Mike Berners-Lee, we are visiting theatres across the UK with The Truth in Politics Show.
After a sold-out pilot in Kendal last year, we are now bringing the show to Oxford and Henley-on-Thames thanks to one of our supporters reaching out to their local theatres. The evening is designed to cut through the noise, spin and distortion that now dominate political life, on both sides of the Atlantic.
Truth in Politics is not party political, and it is not a book tour or a lecture. It is an open, intelligent conversation about how political deception has shaped our democracy, why it keeps working, and what we can do to restore honesty, accountability and trust.
Each evening brings together voices you can trust, with space for audience questions and real engagement. Mike Berners-Lee and our CEO, award-winning journalist Jennifer Nadel, will be joined by Jessica Townsend, founder of MP Watch.
