Petition updateEnd the liesLies: How can voters really decide?

Dear supporters,

The election campaign has barely started but we’ve had a taster of what’s to come.

Both sides in the campaign are already accusing the other of spreading lies.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has labelled Labour liars over their statements about the Conservative tax plans. They returned the broadside by claiming that the Conservatives don’t care about people’s pensions.

None of this helps those of us stuck in between - the public just wanting to know how both parties will improve our lives.

That is why we believe it’s so important to ensure politicians tell us the truth. So they stick to the facts and constructive debates about issues in the interests of the public.

Next month the Welsh parliament will vote on a law to make it a requirement that their members are honest and transparent. This is a potentially game-changing piece of legislation that could set a precedent for other parliaments to follow.

Lies have no place in our politics. If you would like to help us on this campaign please consider joining as a member of Compassion in Politics. Alternatively a small one off donation would be equally as powerful in the fight against lies in politics.
