Our roads a rapidly changing with advanced car technologies making them safer to be in than ever before.

What happens on the rural, country roads right now is the reason for my campaign.

“Give us a chance” is for all users of these rural, often single lane roads found all over this country.

The National Speed limit applies on these roads! For many vehicles this is 60mph. There are exceptions and of course this is a maximum.

Statistics show that the risk of having an accident on a rural country road and being seriously injured on one is far greater than on any other road. I believe this is purely because of the dangerously high speed limit.

At present, the government are looking at making changes to The Highway Code but they do not have plans to change the speed limits on our lanes.

Whilst vehicle drivers are relatively safe inside the runners, cyclists, horse riders, carriage drivers and walkers face death & serious injury because of vehicle speed!!

Drivers are reported to take little or no change to their driving when on country roads even when they approach a vulnerable road user or an animal of any kind. 

So please help me to influence Parliament by signing my petition so we can all use the country roads safely together.
