During training a standard Infantry Soldier earns £15,985 and when they join the unit as a Private they get a pay rise to £20,400. This means that their wages are only slightly above the minimum in the Uk and when they become a private their wage is just under £10,000.00 below the average.

Based on the job they do I strongly believe that they should be earning a lot more than this in order to be able to support their family whilst they are away. Additionally, when they decide to leave the Army their career and hard work should be rewarded by providing them with the financial backing to allow them time to search for a different job. This can be deemed as a large factor as to why many Army veterans end up becoming homeless- hardly a reward for fighting for their country and the sacrifices they have made!!!
