Ban the use of glue traps as a form of pest control

Ban the use of glue traps as a form of pest control
The Issue
Glue traps - also known as sticky traps - are sheets or trays covered in extreamly strong glue. They are used as a form of pest control for small animals such as rats and mice. The animals who walk onto the glue trap become instantly stuck and unable to free themselves before eventually dying after days of suffering, often ripping their own skin off in a bid to escape.
This is how glue traps eventually kill the animals -
- Hunger and dehydration - From days of being unable to free themselves from the trap.
- Suffocation - From their nose and mouth becoming stuck to the glue so they are unable to breathe.
- Blood Loss - From ripping limbs and skin off in a desperate bid for freedom.
Glue traps also often catch "non-target" animals such as birds, squirrels, frogs, hedgehogs and even cats.
The aim of this petition is not to ban all pest control; its aims to protect animals from unnecessary cruelty. There are many alternative and more humane methods of pest control that can be used without causing a long and agonising death. Please sign this petition to urge the British government to ban these outdated and cruel traps.
