The European Chemicals Agency's decision passed this month effectively destroys the EU-wide ban on animal experiments for cosmetics that was passed in 2013. They have now reached the decision and made a statement this month that; "Chemicals used in many popular High Street brands must be tested on animals". Even worse they have also said that two of the chemicals that they test on animals are also being put into "cruelty free products" in high street stores like The Body Shop, Estee Lauder, Dove, Loreal. The two Chemicals being tied to these products are( ultra-violet filters Homosalate and 2-ethylhexyl salicylate, also known as Octisalate). So now the cruelty free logo means nothing in any stores. We must all take action, demand this to be changed. They are taking away the publics vote to ban animal testing, and taking the choice of cruelty free products away from us. All the hard work of protestors and activists must not be in vain, the wants of the public must not be ignored, our demand for a cruelty free and animal testing free Europe must be heard. Animals are not our test subjects. They should not suffer for the sake of vanity. Under this testing regime, hundreds of pregnant rabbits or rats will be fed the chemicals before being killed and, in some cases, their unborn offspring dissected.
