Overturn over 18s not being allowed to do non contact group indoor sport while in tier 3

The Issue

Under the new stricter tier 3 restrictions there is a rule that no group exercise classes or sports (contact or non-contact) are permitted indoors for those over the age of 18. This is penalizing those like myself who go to clubs for things such as swimming and other non contact sports. For those under 18 they are allowed to take part in group exercise and sport as long as appropriate safety measures are followed. Why can this not be the same for those over the age of 18 where these safety measures can also be in place? Furthermore those over 18 are more likely to understand the rules and thus adhere to them.

In most venues the under 18’s and the over 18’s use exactly the same facilities – so how is it fair that one group can be trusted to exercise or play by the rules and one cant?

I am calling for the government to reconsider this rule and allow all ages to take part in non contact sports indoors. Not only is it unfair it is also detrimental to the physical and mental health of people over 18. I know for myself personally that not only does swimming keep me physically fit, it also takes the stress away of not being able to leave the house while working from home and allows me to have human interaction, which has been rare during this pandemic
