overhaul the sentences given and make sure they fit the crimes.
The Issue
currently in the UK under current law the person responsible for an unprovoked attack resulting in the death of a well loved horse is facing a maximum of 51 weeks imprisonment for destruction of property. Horses and animals are more than property they are living, breathing, feeling members of our families. If someone can inflict such suffering on a defenceless animal they can do it to a person. we believe that sentences for all serious crimes against people and animals in particular need to be changed so not only are they correctly defined but allow judges the power to give adequate sentences.
