Spousal ,cohabitee  and family abandonment is rife throughout the world. Spouses ( mainly men ) often leave without reason out of the blue often for partners 20 plus years younger. In my case my partner abandoned myself for and our three children for a work colleague who is 24 years younger than him and is forcing the sale of the family home. He has abdicated his responsibilities as a father by selling the family home knowing we have nowhere to go. This is morally and financially wrong . It causes catastrophic emotional and financial chaos to the left behind spouse who is left to deal with  the aftermath. In the midst of their own pain and upset they often have to find work, deal with their children’s needs , housework, pets etc whilst their ex partner waltzes off into the sunset with not regard for their children’s needs. It is very often preceded by gaslighting, manipulation and lies to cover for the fact they have been having an affair which causes further psychological damage to the spouse and their children as they start doubting their sense of reality due to the cataclysmic change in behaviour. I feel there should be laws put in place to make it the absent parents responsibility to keep and pay for a roof over their children’s heads until they leave education if the children are still in the marital/ cohabitee home .This is the least they can do and may make men think twice and instead of abandoning their family they may work at their relationship through counselling etc rather than looking outside their relationship to “fix” their relationship !!!!
