Make Saint David's Day a National Bank Holiday in Wales in 2022

The U.K. Government should legislate to make Saint David's Day / Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant a national public holiday in Wales - as is the case with Saint Andrew's Day in Scotland. This is long overdue and would justly recognise the patron saint of Wales and his immense contribution to Welsh national life. Power to create public holidays in Wales has been retained as a U.K. Government reserve power, which means that the Welsh Parliament does not have the power to make Saint David's Day a bank holiday. This is despite the National Assembly voting to do so in 2000. After twenty years of devolution, and many failed petitions, it's time for us to commemorate our patron Saint appropriately. You can make a difference by doing a little thing - just as Dewi said himself - by signing this petition.
