Government support for Animal Charities through Covid19 crisis

Government support for Animal Charities through Covid19 crisis
The Issue
Many businesses and other organisations are receiving benefit from the UK Government through their business schemes and furloughing support, and some animal charities will have help for non-frontline staff through furloughing and to help their shops continue to trade through the retail support grants. These are good schemes in their own right and offer support to some organisations in these areas.
However, these charities and non-profits also rely on fundraising events that are now postponed or cancelled, on volunteers who are now isolating, on donors who are not able to give as easily. Charities providing frontline services to people are now getting additional help too but not those providing for animals in need.
We would just like the government to consider giving animal rescues and rehabilitation organisations, whether charities or non-profit, some support to help them cover staffing, feed and vet costs through this pandemic, as staff caring directly for animals cannot all be furloughed.
We are a nation who loves our animals and our people, and we feel it is time to show this, especially for those animal charities and non-profits who relied on fundraising events which have had to be postponed for obvious reasons.
