Hey,
The political landscape has gone from fast paced to lightning speed in the past few weeks. On 20 October, Liz Truss resigned as Prime Minister and now Rishi Sunak has stepped into her shoes. Let’s make sure he understands the true impact of free school meals. Retweet our new campaign film with the message “Rishi Sunak, time is running out. Please put extending free school meals to children in need at the top of your agenda.”.
What do all these changes and the new Prime Minister mean for our campaign?
Well, we do have some new ministers and with it some positive news! Only this month, Michael Gove confirmed to me at the Conservative Party Conference that he supports our campaign to extend free school meals for all those in need — and he now has more power to act on that, as Secretary of State for Levelling Up. We’ll make sure to hold him to his words!
Liz Truss had no public plans to extend free school meals to those in need, but we hope Rishi Sunak will not continue down this path, and instead decide to put child health first and support our campaign.
To make this happen we will have to continue fighting — that much is clear. Please do retweet our new campaign film with the message “Rishi Sunak, time is running out. Please put extending free school meals to children in need at the top of your agenda.”.
Thanks so much,
Christina and the Bite Back 2030 team.
