Another 816 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK, bringing the overall figure to 311,641 since the start of the pandemic. It means the number of cases has fallen below 1,000 a day again after infections rose to their highest level since June 26 yesterday. There have been 21 new deaths recorded across all settings today but the overall death toll has actually been revised down to 46,526 from yesterday’s 46,574.
