>>> LOCAL LOCKDOWN? <<<
Due to the horrific "resurgence" of the virus in Leicester, the tory eejits have asked the people in that city to forget any further release from lockdown for two further weeks.
This weekend was to see the reopening of pubs etc there along with the rest of England. The problem is that unless the UK government impose road blocks (after they've told people what the quarantine area actually is), people will simply hop on a bus, taxi or train to enjoy the pubs etc elsewhere.
In other words, a local lockdown cannot possibly work unless you restrict the movement of people from (and to) a quarantined area.
This is where I put my conspiracy theorist hat on. Surely the tory cabinet have considered that salient fact. If they have (and I would be entirely surprised if they haven't) then what are they actually up to?
At no other time in history have we seen a population where common sense is so lacking. I'm not going to beat around the bush here, the people in Scotland are generally as stupid as those found across the British Isles and if it wasn't for Nicola and her team, we'd be in a similar state. Their careful management of the virus has left us in the enviable position where we're actually beginning to see an end to the pandemic in Scotland.
The First Minister has alluded to quarantine restrictions for people trying to enter Scotland from other places including other parts of the UK. That would impose a self quarantine period of 14 days for those wishing to come to Scotland along with (hopefully) heavy fines for those who break those quarantine restrictions. My question would obviously be; how would such an action be put in place without a border control at all entry points to Scotland?
Is it now time to take the same action that Canada has taken with the USA? They've closed all border crossings to everything apart from freight. Perhaps we should do the same to prevent the virus entering our population again.
Because its a matter of public health, the First Minister has the right to impose such restrictions and overrule the orders of the Home Office Minister Priti Patel to take any measures necessary to protect her own people.
The best analogy I can think of is that an enemy has invaded all parts of the UK. In Scotland we have managed to beat the enemy into submission and now we must close our borders by whatever means necessary to prevent any further invasion.
As I've always said, I feel truly sorry for the people of England and now they're becoming the sad victims of those that they chose to lead them, however, we in Scotland must act to protect ourselves at this juncture and in doing so keep the virus out.
Anyone that speaks out against our need for self protection must be considered in collaboration with those in the tory leadership who must obviously have another agenda and be considered as much of an enemy as the killer virus itself.
