I would like the UK Government to pass a law that allows veterinary surgeons to use blue flashing lights on their cars in emergency situations. Getting a vet to a suffering animal quickly can sometimes make the difference between life and death. Time is of the essence especially if an animal requires surgery. There is no difference between people or animals suffering and so we should have this emergency choice for veterinary surgeons cars.

A mare on our yard had colic this week and if the vet who attended had not needed to be held up in traffic she would have got there in half the time. The mare had to be taken to the veterinary hospital for surgery and fortunately is recovering, but any further delays and it could have been a different story as her small intestine was dropping through a hole in her stomach.
