Ban ALL Plastic Packaging. Save Our Oceans!

The Issue

Approximately 8 MILLION TONNES of plastic ends up in our oceans every year.

This is as much as 80% of all litter in the oceans.

If this rate of plastic pollution continues, in 30 years, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish.

Plastic waste kills up to 1 million seabirds, 100,000 sea mammals, marine turtles and countless fish.

Evidence of plastic pollution can be seen on every beach in the world, even those in uninhabited areas, have plastic waste.

One-third of the fish caught for human consumption off the south-west coast, contain traces of plastic contamination. This ranges from carrier bags and bottle tops to sanitary products.

Microplastic pollution doesn't end there. Over 80% of drinking water samples taken from various sources contained plastic fibres. Millions of people drink this water.

The UK’s supermarkets are responsible for 900 000 tonnes of plastic packaging and sold more than 2 billion plastic bags.

SO, I am petitioning for the UK government to ban the use of plastic packaging and to introduce a safe, biodegradable alternative. Not only will this prevent any further pollution of our oceans but it will also help in the fight to save our environment and it's ecosystems.
