DVSA secretly shares your data with NASP?
Tucked away in the ADI Privacy Notice published by the DVSA:
"We will share your data with the driving instructor associations who are members of the National Associations Strategic Partnership (NASP). We’ll only share your data with them if you’ve given permission. You can withdraw your permission by updating your ADI registration details and opting out of ‘mailings"

As we've come to expect from the DVSA, the statement makes little sense.
It starts by suggesting that they'll only share your data with permission, but then says you can withdraw permission by opting out. So which is it? Have we automatically consented or not? We don't remember anywhere during the registration process when we had the option of sharing our data with NASP.
Then we've searched through the Instructor Registration page and can't find anywhere you can opt into or out of mailings anyway! Perhaps the DVSA like to keep it well hidden?
If it is an automatic opt-in, that's illegal. Under Data Protection regulations you cannot automatically opt to have your information shared with third parties.

And which data is being shared?, just some of the information the DVSA stores is listed on the page and includes, convictions (motoring and non-motoring),photographs, Disclosures and Barring Service (DBS) reference number, which trainer you used while qualifying, if any, and ADI standards check history, including dates and results
ADIs personal details should not be touted by the DVSA to for profit organisations that aren't effectively representing us.
As the DVSAs stated method of opting out doesn't seem to work, if you don't want your details shared then

telling them you no longer consent to your personal details being shared with NASP.
The DVSAs slipshod approach to Data Protection Regulations is one of the reasons there needs to be a full and independent enquiry into the organisation. Please continue to pass this petition on to your colleagues.
