Examiner strike on the cards!

Once again DVSA management tries to ride roughshod over someone, only this time its Examiners instead of ADIs., The difference of course being that examiners have a union prepared to stand up to the them, unlike ADIs who are lumbered with the ineffective, and ignored NASP. 

The latest DVSA email, tells us that; PCS the examiners union, is now balloting its members for strike action over the imposition of 8 tests a day!

You wouldn't have to have been Mystic Meg to see that one coming, but presumably DVSA management just assumed the staff would roll over and accept another test a day.

Speaking of the 8 tests a day trial, the DVSA have also said they'll be moving some test times by up to an hour, so forget any other lessons you had planned that day, we'll just all have to wait around on the whim of the DVSA. That's assuming there is a waiting room to wait in! And the reduction in time between tests will also mean that debrief, already shortened greatly since the introduction of IPads and COVID will now be even shorter. 

What does this mean to us? Well as we're now being monitored on driver faults, we won't even get a chance to find out what they all are! NASP have asked the DVSA if they wouldn't mind awfully and if its not too much trouble, if someday possibly in the not too distant future, there could be an option for a second email address for the test results to be sent to when booking a test.

If the DVSA want to monitor driver faults then we demand an automatic right to be present on each debrief, a full debrief on each fault, and a copy automatically of the test result sheet. 


One has to wonder how the DVSA management could be any more incompetent, after 18 months of COVID they've managed to alienate a large number of ADIs by messing around with the Standards Check for no reason, and then bring us to the brink of an examiners strike which if successful will increase the waiting lists even further all within the space of two months.
