NASP say "Nothing to do with us guv"

We're not sure who's fault it is though as, NASP have spent the last 12 months telling us how great they are at dealing with the DVSA as "your (self appointed) industry trade association"

As we predicted yesterday there is ongoing panic in the NASP ranks about the  backlash from ADIs on the Standards Check changes, and we are just shy of 2000 signatures as I write this.

Years of NASP claiming how busy and important they are, consulting away, representing their members DVSA to shape the industry for everyone's benefit have been exposed as a sham, by none other than NASP itself!

Today's  NASP statement  gives us more insight into the real DVSA "consultation" process.

Apparently the DVSAs idea of a consultation, the outcome of which affects approximately 38,000 registered ADIs is to talk to a handful of self-appointed ADIs and tell them they can't discuss it with anyone.

Then whenever asked for an update they apparently don't say anything! finally launching the change with no warning to them, leaving "Your trade association" and "tier one stakeholder" plaintively crying "we feel we're being ignored".

As we said right back at the start of this petition, NASP exists solely to allow the DVSA to claim they are meeting a statutory duty to consult with the industry, and is ignored by the DVSA when they feel like it. (As we stated in a previous update, the DVSA ignored NASP with the B+E changes and told them to answer the pupil consultation like everyone else).

The DVSA (if allowed to continue its role in some form), needs to be held to account by a watchdog with regulatory backing consisting of representatives from working ADIs with power to sanction them.

The fact that that Lovejoy and her cohorts in the DVSA can railroad through a massive change like this with no opposition, and ignoring it's NASP lapdog is a clear example of why there needs to be a full independent enquiry to determine it's future.

We doubt it will happen but, ADI Associations that are members of NASP need to take a long hard look at themselves and ask "Who does NASP really benefit? Hardworking ADIs nearly bankrupted by COVID? or the DVSA,in allowing it to pursue it's own agenda without troublesome interference from ADIs?"

If ADIs that are members of the NASP Associations, feel their interests are represented, perhaps they should be telling them:

"I WANT MY MONEY BACK!"

History shows that the DVSA can only be held to account when forced by legal means to comply, consultation means nothing to them, and the main ADI Associations want to keep their cosy relationship with the DVSA going, which is why we need an independent enquiry with full legal powers to bring the DVSA to account!
