NASP bypassed by DVSA yet again
Since ADI Part 2 and 3 testing resumed we have heard constant reports that DVSA Examiners are now demanding the logbooks and trainer details for candidates attending Part 2 tests!
None of this is mentioned on the GOV.UK: "Approved driving instructor (ADI) part 2 test: What to take to your test"
although since the Part 3 changed several years ago the related Part 3 page has stated: "You should also bring a log of the training you’ve been doing to qualify as an approved driving instructor (ADI)."
It says you should because there is no legal requirement to do so, and it has no bearing on the outcome of the test.
In fact, it's just the same old tactic used by the DVSA to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt, to test candidates and ADIs while trying to push their long discredited ORDIT register (which also has no legal standing)
It's even more bizarre is that unlike learner drivers a Part 2 trainer has absolutely no control over if I candidate can take a Part 2 test or not, as they just turn up in their own car.
Useless NASP as usual remain silent on this latest change and Lovejoy and her mandarins haven't even published this one in an email update.
You should advise any candidate attending for a Part 2/3 Test if asked these questions to say something like:
"I don't have any details; I didn't know this was a legal requirement for the test to go ahead"
The DVSA should concentrate on delivering tests that comply with their legal obligations, (we already know that they are terrified that the early termination tests will be overturned by a court, and they will have to offer thousands of free retests which is why they've gone out of their way to discourage people from appealing) rather than making up test requirements.
On a second note - Where are all these extra L tests we've promised that supposedly launched last week? None of our learners have spotted any?
Is this yet another failed PR stunt by the DVSA. NASP were quick to republish the DVSA press released, but they don't seem as quick to ask what's actually happened to all these tests.
Please continue to support the petition for an independent enquiry into the DVSA and the creation of an independent body to hold them to really hold them to account, unlike the toothless NASP.
