UK DHSC invest in T-cell blood tests & alternative medicine for ALL chronic illnesses ASAP

The Issue

Did you know?

Misdiagnosis of Lyme disease for conditions such as CFS/ME, Pscyhiatric disorders, Post-viral Syndrome (PVS), Fibromyalgia and others, indicates that as many as 1 MILLION individuals in the UK could unknowingly be infected with the agents of Lyme disease (FIGHT LYME NOW survey 2015-2017).

For all individuals over the period of their illness, the cost to UK PLC is £5 BILLION!

A wider appreciation by NHS health care professioanls that Lyme disease actually exists within the UK, coupled with better diagnostic systems and earlier and more appropriate treatment is an absolute requirement to reduce symptom progression and the need for more extensive and costly NHS therapy.

(Dr. Chris Newton, Scientific Lead for The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign)

Andrew Bridgen MP sponsored The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign's Lyme and chronic disease awareness event in the House of Commons on the 27th of November, 2023.

Andrew Bridgen MP agrees that:

  1. T-cell blood tests and the wider screening for co-infecting agents (by way of determinig IgG and IgA antibodies), should be made available to everyone who suffers from an idiopathic illness to determine whether individuals have a Lyme disease-related bacterial and/or viral infection;
  2. more complimentary and alternative medicine clinical trials and proven treatment options should be made available to everyone afflicted with chronic illness, especially if mainstream medicine has failed to help them.

Andrew Bridgen MP has kindly offered to present our science-based lobby group's recommendations to parliament for review and eventual implementation.

To lend your support to Andrew Bridgen MP and The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign, please kindly consider signing and sharing our petition.

N.B. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) did not attend nor were they able to identify which minister is currenlty responsible for Lyme disease and complimentary/alternative medicine.

The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign's mission statement:

In its current manifestation, the NHS is particularly poor when it comes to the diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease.  Specifically, it is failing to recognise a wealth of evidence to suggest that infectious agents are a root cause.

Numerous studies indicate that infectious agents play a significant role in conditions as widespread as Alzheimer's, diabetes and arthritis.  A consequence of this serious omission is that for some of these chronic conditions, existing and proposed therapies are likely to fail.

There is evidence that the infective agent of Lyme disease is associated with beta-amyloid in the brain of Alzheimer's sufferers.  Rather than being the primary cause of Alzheimer's, beta-amyloid appears to function in the brain as an antimicrobial peptide to fight infection.  A similar situation may pertain for alpha-synuclein in Parkinson's disease.

A survey carried out by The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign indicated that conditions not previously associated with microorganisms, are due to infection.  Of those who tested positive for Borrelia burgdorferi (the organism that characterises Lyme disease), 24% were diagnosed with a psychiatric condition, 15% were diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, 15% with autism, 13% with fibromyalgia, 20% with IBS and 27% with post viral illness syndrome.  The implication of these findings warrants serious study.

For non-Lyme disease organisms, studies show that there are higher levels of bacteria in the blood of individuals who have diabetes and that there are microorganisms present in the joints of arthritis sufferers.  Indeed, many so called autoimmune conditions, may have an origin due to infection.  Once considered fanciful, there is also good evidence that microorganisms don't just invade tumours, they may be the cause of certain cancers.

In light of the above, we need to fundamentally review accepted wisdom concerning chronic disease.  A new paradigm for the NHS is way overdue and our event aims to facilitate this fundamental overhaul in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The FIGHT LYME NOW Campaign's recommendations:

A:

To establish a new core philosophy for the treatment of chronic disease that takes into account infection as a root cause, where in addition to allopathic medicine, herbal and bioenergetic medicine is used (i.e. herbal antimicrobials and holistic bioenergetic treatment modalities such as systematic kinesiology, homeopathy, acupuncture and electromagnetic field therapy).

B:

To establish and validate in-house T-cell testing for the detection of the infective agents of Lyme disease and to incorporate this testing system into the reference facility for Lyme disease confirmation.

The list below is by no means exhaustive but chronic diseases include:

Lyme disease
Cancer
Neuropsychological conditions (e.g. Depression, Psychosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS)
Autoimmune conditions, including Diabetes
Vascular Disease
Cardiomyopathy/Myocarditis
Arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid)
Chronic fatigue
Fibromyalgia
Muscle weakness
