There are so many thousands of residents on the South Coast that are so angry about the UGU crisis... yet have not signed the petition "UGU mass lawsuit" found at the website change.org.
I set out to find out why... here is the most common comments in point form and reasons for not yet signing and my comment to each below it:
I don't want to get involved I'm scared my family or I will be attacked....
.
No one has to know your involved but us, your identity is not made public. You only have to sign a petition, pay R100 much later when indicated, submit your damages claim and follow the media and updates. We will contact you. You have to do NOTHING MORE.
I don't know if anything will come of this, they all are so corrupt.....
Yes we understand this fully , remember a mass law suit has NEVER been undertaken in SA before. We are committed with your backing to go the full mile and use all possible avenues. The mere fact that it's unique will gain us the needed media coverage. I believe nationally and possibly internationally.
How do I know this is not another scam?....
This is my personal kind of thinking daily! I understand this and can assure you that you will NOT PAY ONE CENT until we have exposed this fully in the media and until auditors and attorneys are appointed, we will also personally communicate with you prior to collection. You will also receive personal communication with all contact details for follow up. Finances will be strictly controlled and audited financials and updates will be send to petitioners to ensure transparency. Furthermore R100 is the value of a take away meal or the water value you have allready had to spend to buy! If it was large sums yes I personally would be really careful myself.
I think it will pass I don't want to overreact, someone else will take care of this?.....
Really? Who will if we don't as a group club in and stand together? Do you really believe it will pass? It's not isolated, it's ongoing, it's getting worse. I would say we have NO choice whether to speak up, too many people are complacent and say it will pass, why in the world would you have to continuously go through this stress. What about the future of your kids? And mine?
This sounds like to much work, I am really busy I can't take on anything....
Refer to first comment and 2 minutes is what it takes to sign for now, 5 minutes at a later stage to EFT a R100 and 5 minutes even later to send in damages by email. After that wait for feedback. We will be your spokesman to appoint attorney, auditors and send off documents, once it's all in place THEY will mostly handle everything. 2 minutes for now... that's it....
Who is Sam Botha anyway?...
I am firstly a South Coast Resident, a mother, a wife, part of a prominent south coast business and self employed , I have 2 kids, been married 20 years and I am studying law. I am a normal person just like you. I am tired of doing nothing, tired of being stressed by failing government institutions, tired of not having a voice, a say in how they use my tax money! Tired of feeling negative and apprehensive. It has always been my aim to fight corruption and for Human Rights, when I am done with my law studies, this EVENT has brought me to my calling earlier, to fight the injustice of it all with mass law suits for the people. To fight each instituted organisation one at a time as and when injustice occur. I refer to services like water, unions, education, electricity etc. It has brought life to an organisation currently being formed to fight injustice in south africa, with mass lawsuits, an organisation which will be known as the PTTP- Power to the People. For now I choose to keep a low profile once the Suit is in full swing all will be revealed, however I will personally be in contact with each petitioner.
I don't want to join now it's Christmas, I want to relax and see where this goes.....
Well it can't GO if people don't join, it's really simple if we don't get at least 6000 up to our target of 7500 petitioners to help and pledge R100 per family, we will have to end our campaign, we can only do it together,we can't afford it alone, this is a long term process, it will take 6 months to get the numbers we need. Can we really take that long to take action? Your voice, your vote is needed, no better time to join than now. We have a plan 1000 signatures will take us to Carte Blanche and the Public Protector, thereafter at various numbers of signatures (info found on petition) we will appoint auditors, attorney, register a bank account, investigate the laying of criminal charges on behalf of the South coast petitioners as provided for in the criminal matters amendment act of 2015 and finally when we reach our 7500 target the civil suit will start. PLEASE don't delay.. SIGN TODAY. And SHARE THIS POST...
I hope this addressed most comments out there if there are any more please friend request me on Facebook, and send me a personal message. I would happily return a response.
