Optometrist is the independent primary health care provider who specializes in eye care and visual health. An Optometrist is medical professionals, but not physicians. They focus on regular vision care and prescribe eyeglasses, contacts and providing vision therapy, prosthetics and rehabilitations. Optometrist examines the internal and external structure of the eyes and as per that they do diagnosis, treatment and refer if required to the ophthalmologist 

But in India its not standardized, some place some optometrist are practicing something totally different then others, that is all because of lack of knowledge 

In India for optometry so many degrees are available and that all are under UGC recognized universities with different name, i don't know how its possible in one country 1 course had so many different degree name and durations like

1. Bachelor of optometry 2. B.Sc. in Optometry 3. B.Sc. in Optometry and Ophthalmic technology 4. B.Sc. in Ophthalmic Technology and etc 

and duration of this courses are 3 years some are 4 years and some are 4year 6 month which is totally UGC negligence towards optometry standardizing

Why the govt is not standardizing this things, because of thing Indian optometry students are loosing many international opportunities

If we look on the optometry international degree so we will get only Bachelor of Optometry Degree 4 year course  

So I request to the Indian GOVT , UGC , Health ministry and Dr Harsh Vardhan to look on this matters and Kindly remove this all different course and make only one course and make it standard as international Degree
