Spartacus Legends 2: Retail Game

Spartacus Legends 2: Retail Game
The Issue
In January of 2010 tv network Starz aired the very first episode of what became an epic series Spartacus: The War of the Damned. The show was based on the life of Spartacus and his fellow gladiators that eventually broke free from their bonds of servitude to fight the Roman empire head-on in combat as free men and women.
As a promotional tool Starz teamed-up with game developers Kung Fu Factory and Ubisoft to create and distribute a video game entitled: Spartacus Legends. The game was released on June 26, 2013 for Playstation 3 and soon after added to Xbox 360.
Spartacus Legends is a free-to-play-game which invites the player to take on the role of a Lanista, to own a stable of elite gladiators for combat. Follow your gladiators’ journey from training to arena and watch as they strive to reach legendary fame—or meet death at the hands of another. Experience raw, visceral combat using multiple fighting styles and thousands of weapon combinations.
Initially, the purpose of the game was to promote the later season's of the show post the tragic loss of Mr. Andy Whitfield, whom played the role of Spartacus for the first season. However, rather than the game only having a short life as a promotional tool for the show it has become a popular free-to-play title the world over, allowing thousands of players to compete in seasonal tournaments.
The initial game was expanded upon with the advent of wager matches with friends, online tournament seasons and community boss fights plus the addition of more characters from the show. But the only revenue the title received was in the form of micro-transactions by players who wished to purchase gold for their ludas.
About 2.5 years later Ubisoft has announced they will shut Spartacus Legends down for both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Dec 22nd 2015. This saddens both myself and thousands of other players of the game who are also fans of the show that love the game and don't wish to see it end.
With that being said, I believe that a sequel to Spartacus Legends could be developed by Kung Fu Factory in cooperation with both Starz and Ubisoft for distribution if it were a retail game. If Spartacus Legends 2 was produced as a retail-game rather than a free-to-play-game then the legend of epic heroes like Spartacus, Crixus, Oenomaus, Gannicus and the others could reign-on for both Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
Spartacus Legends 2 could harness the awesome power of current generation consoles and PCs, allowing the sequel to be even more spectacular than the original.
If you too would love to enter Capua as a powerful gladiator to face other opponents beyond Dec 22nd 2015, then I urge you to sign this petition to show the game developers, distributors, and Starz how much we love their show and game.
