Additional Research added:
For several months, under President Joe Biden, the U.S. has violated our domestic laws as well as defying internationally agreed upon United Nations (UN) Resolutions to which we are obligated, by continuing to facilitate the export of what amounts to 69% of Israel’s total weapons purchases and facilitating those purchases through U.S. military aid. More specifically, the U.S. is in violation of the U.S. Foreign Assistance Act (Law 87-195), the Arms Export Control Act (Law 90-629), the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council Resolution (April 2024) calling to “cease the sale, transfer and diversion of arms, munitions and other military equipment to Israel” and the UN General Assembly Resolution (Sept. 2024) calling for “an immediate stop to all weapons shipments and military aid to Israel”.

Human Rights Watch stated in Jan. 2025, “When the United States selectively applies internationally accepted rules, it undermines its credibility and loses influence in the rest of the world. And because Washington has been the architect of the modern global order, its behavior carries extra weight. If the United States flouts the rules, authoritarians and other illiberal leaders need no further excuse to break them at will, inflicting horror on their own people and inciting instability beyond their borders.”

Jewish Voice For Peace stated in Nov. 2024, “For decades, the U.S. has helped Israel systematically violate international law with impunity. The Israeli government has shown — time and again — that it does not respond to warnings or stern words. The U.S. must end its complicity in the Israeli government’s war crimes, and stop violating its own existing laws and policies by stopping the flow of weapons to Israel”.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated in Sept. 2024 before the General Assembly, “We can't go on like this, in a world of impunity where violations and abuses threaten the very foundation of international law and the UN Charter.” Too many governments, he warned, "feel entitled to a 'get out of jail free' card. They can turn a blind eye to international rights conventions, or the decisions of international courts. They can thumb their nose at international humanitarian law. They can invade another country, lay waste to all society and nothing will happen."

Subsequently, in Nov. 2024 a group of 52 UN member countries led by Türkiye sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres calling for an arms embargo on Israel. In addition to Türkiye, signatories included China, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Palestine, Brazil, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nation’s main judicial body, issued a landmark advisory opinion on the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories in July 2024 and stated unequivocally that Israel's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territories is "unlawful," and that it is obligated to bring its occupation to an end completely and "as rapidly as possible." The court ordered Israel to "cease immediately" all new settlement activity and to evacuate all of its settlers from the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Additionally, the ICJ said that all states and international organizations, including the UN membership are obligated NOT to recognize Israel's unlawful presence, “nor to render aid or assistance in maintaining the occupation”. The Court went on to say that Israel was in denial of Palestinian self-determination and the UN prohibition against the acquisition of territory by force.

President Trump and the decision-makers in the 119th U.S. Congress to stop facilitating endless conflict in the middle east. We must urge them to reevaluate existing foreign policy and to adopt a new culture of peace at home and throughout the world.

Thank you for signing.
