Actions should be taken against MLS referee Armando Villarreal.

Referee Armando Villarreal should be evaluated and retained due to actions during the Atlanta United FC Vs Minnesota United MLS match on October 3rd, 2017. Villarreal failed to punish players who committed dangerous plays, and showed clear bias against Atlanta. Around minute 30, a ball is played down the wing to Tito Villalba. Collin Martin lunges into him, spikes up, with no attempt at the ball. Villarreal was within a few yards of this red card worthy tackle, but Martin was only shown yellow. Villalba was lucky to walk away without serious injury. Around minute 60, Kyle Reynish slides into Abu Danladi making no contact with the ball. While this is a red card for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity, after Collin Martin was only shown yellow for his malicious tackle on Villalba, I don't think Reynish should have seen red. Those are probably the 2 big decisions he failed to make the correct call on, but there were many more calls that unfairly went Minnesota's way.

While this doesn't matter as Atlanta United have already clinched a play off spot, it caused them their first loss in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Referee Armando Villarreal should be re evaluated and fired, or undergo further training before returning to officiating. He should also be refrained from ever refereeing a fixture involving Atlanta United or Minnesota United.

By signing this petition, you are agreeing that Armando Villarreal should be evaluated, fined, fired or re do training. We need to take action to make sure this referee can not officiate other fixtures and further effect the outcome of future matches.
