PROTECT ALL K9 OFFICERS WHO ARE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. Mandatory Murder charge

The Issue

It's time for a change! We need more protection for law enforcement including K9 officers who die as a result of criminals who break the law. A recent story that occurred in Canton, Ohio on January 9, 2016. K9 Officer Jethro was killed by a criminal and the consequences for that criminal should be the same as for a criminal who kills a police officer. The story made headlines and police as far as New York and Maryland came to Jethro's funeral. K9 Jethro succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained early the previous morning while attempting to apprehend a burglar inside a grocery store at 1272 Harrison Avenue SW. Officers had responded to an alarm activation at approximately 1:15 am and located the subject inside. The subject disobeyed officers' commands and Jethro was deployed. The subject opened fire, striking Jethro three times. The man then fled and continued firing at officers, who returned fire. K9 Jethro was transported to Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic but died as a result of the wounds. Bring justice too all K9's who lose their life while on duty.
