We the Citizens of the United States want horse slaughter of American Horses ended. This would mean, no more slaughtering of any horse born on US soil for any reason. We would like for you to support the SAFE ACT.  Currently horses are dropped at auctions where kill buyers pick up pregnant mares, foals, the injured, the elderly, ex race horses, worked near to death horses from the Amish, BLM horses etc. They sit in kill pens waiting to be trucked to Canada or Mexico where they will be slaughtered for foreign consumption. These horses are packed in trucks like sardines, some do not survive the trip. Once at the slaughter plant theyre stunned, hung up and butchered. Because of the genetic makep of the horse,the first time does not always work and they are butchered alive or subjected to multiple stuns. I would challenge anyone who has not witnessed this process to watch a video, it will turn the stomach of most. There is an out cry across America to stop this cruel act. Many of us have called and written to our House reps and Senators and our letters and calls have fallen on deaf ears. Mostly the US Senators. We know that the meat industry is big business and it lines the pockets of many with blood money, we also know it allows for irresponsible people to dump their unwanted horses. We would like your support in getting the SAFE Act bill passed to stop the cruelty associated with the slaughter pipeline and slaughter itself. There are solutions to the many unwanted horses in America.
