A hundred years ago, the original two thousand protesters stood out in front of the White House for two and a half years. They were dismissed, ridiculed, harassed, arrested, beaten and tortured. It was the most effective action the women’s movement ever took. Ultimately this protest action by “the ladies” delivered the only right guaranteed to women in the Constitution – the right to vote. A hundred years later, we are stalled out — still without equal rights and protections under federal law. We need Constitutional Equality for women.
