I am so proud of these young women and so glad they have picked up where we left off in the 80s. Having marched in three capitals, including Washington, DC, and working so hard for so long, only to have the amendment not pass, was heartbreaking. Now I can tell by feminist friends that the torch has passed to a very worthy group and success is over the horizon!

The battle to ban sex discrimination at the polls took so long that of all those who attended the first Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY, in 1848, only one, Charlotte Woodward Pierce,
was still around on Election Day 1920, the first General Election after ratification of the 19th Amendment in August.
The battle for the E.R.A. is also
a multi-generational struggle that has already taken 21 years longer than the 72-year campaign for the vote, so it’s great to know that some members of your generation are eager to become the newest links in our chain that goes back to Alice Paul in 1923, and forward to the victory party !

These girls rock! I still remember my personal shock and disappointment when the ERA didn't pass. I'm honored the future of women chose one of my quotes to help fight the good fight. The quote is: "If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.”
