One Senator Responds

I'd like to share some encouraging news! Today I received an email response to my petition from Dianne Feinstein, the senior Senator from California, where I live. While her letter is couched in the kind of broad language used by elected officials and diplomats, and is not nearly as strong as I would have liked to see, I was encouraged that she responded, and that she referred me to a letter she wrote to Benjamin Netanyahu, which is posted on her website.

I've included the following excerpt from her letter to the Prime Minister:

"I fear that any steps taken by Israel to unilaterally annex. land in the West Bank will result in long-term costs to Israel’s national security and diplomatic relationships. I urge you not to proceed with unilateral annexations, as such an effort to change the facts on the ground outside of a negotiation could ultimately make it impossible for Israel to secure a permanent and lasting peace agreement with the Palestinians."

I am encouraged to hear at least one Senator agrees that Annexation of the West Bank does not move us closer to a just peace. And I am encouraged that our petitions to our Senators and Representatives are being read. Please consider posting the petition on any of the social media platforms to which you subscribe, or send an email to your friends telling them of your support.

We've had a surge in signers in the last day or two. Can you take a moment to help continue that movement?
