Everyday Americans are dying, getting infections, spreading diseases, and going to jail because of underground steroids. 

Steroids have been illegal since The Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990. This has not stopped the use of these drugs. With social media such as Instagram and twitter constantly encouraging Americans to look their best many turn to steroids. Steroids are plentiful and cheap, they have been around for a long time and there is a very high demand for them. Steroids being illegal does nothing but hurt the population. Instead of being able to go to the pharmacy and get a bottle of testosterone many young men are buying a bottle that was made in a dirty kitchen somewhere and sold in a sweaty gym bag. Steroids are a part of this world like them or not they are not going anywhere. The government can fight them all they want but as long as there is demand there will be a supply. 

By buying from a UGL (under ground lab) many of these compounds cause infection. The reason to make a drug illegal is to prevent harm from happening.... Someone can go to the gas station and get a pack of cigarettes smoke them and get cancer. Someone can go to the liquor store buy a bottle of vodka, drink it, get in their car, and end up killing an entire family. But if someone wants to go get a bottle of testosterone to sleep better, lose fat, gain muscle and have a better quality of life not hurt anyone then it is illegal and they will go to jail.

There are risks of steroids just as there are with alcohol, simply put the warnings on steroids the same as alcohol and cigarettes to make sure when someone does buy something it is going to be clean. Make the age to purchase 21, simply regulate steroids exactly the same way as cigarettes and alcohol. 

It is obvious that The Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990 did not work. It is obvious that things that are designed to improve quality of life are illegal yet things that have no benefit and kill thousands every year are legal. 

The solution is to make Steroids legal to buy without a prescription. To purchase you must be at least 21 years of age, just as alcohol and marijuana. Simply treat steroids exactly the same as alcohol is treated.
