Create thriving national parks for wildlife while reducing park operating expenses.

Create thriving national parks for wildlife while reducing park operating expenses.
The Issue
Wildlife are increasingly being stressed by impacts of human interactions such as noise, pollution, and direct disturbance. This is especially challenging during the springtime when many animals are coming out of the lean winter months and need to fatten up or they are giving birth. Both require an ecosystem that is not stressed by the environmental impacts that human activity can bring.
National Parks are also experiencing ongoing budget constraints that impact their ability to protect the environment, animals, and provide adequate service for visitors.
The solution is simple, keep all national parks closed during spring months with re-opening on Memorial Day weekend. This allows animals within the national parks system an opportunity to thrive in an environment that is safe during critical birthing times or as they are searching a broader geographic area for food after the long winter months.
This would also reduce the overall operating cost of the national parks by reducing services during this same period of time.
We can make a difference and we all saw the immediate and direct benefits to the ecosystems during the recent COVID-19 restrictions. Wildlife in places like national parks really thrived during this period. Additionally, the national parks would still be open during key summer vacation season. We all benefit!
