Save Pastor Steven Tendo from deportation

Save Pastor Steven Tendo from deportation
Why this petition matters
We, the undersigned, are Ugandans and American allies in the United States. We love our home country of Uganda but we know the realities of violence, repression and inequity that face so many back home. For this reason we must express our horror about the imminent deportation of Pastor Steven Tendo back to Uganda. He is already missing two fingers, which were amputated during a torture session there, and his body bears many other scars as well. If he returns to Uganda, he will be killed.
We came to this country because we believe that this is a land where justice and equality are the core and cherished values. We too believe in these values. For this reason we stand together today to speak out against the deportation of Pastor Steven Tendo. We ask that the courts of law be permitted to complete their review of his case, and that the domestic and international laws prohibiting the return of any person to a place of danger, be respected.
In addition, as a result of a lack of medical care for his diabetes while in detainment, Pastor Steven is now legally blind. We ask that Pastor Steven receives the medical care he deserves and was promised here in the U.S but was unjustly denied.
We thank all of the Members of the United States Congress who now strive to protect Pastor Steven Tendo, and we pray for peace and mercy for us all.
Sincerely,
The Ugandan American Community and American allies
