Free Luis Gomez from Immigration Detention

Free Luis Gomez from Immigration Detention
The Issue
Luis was born in Colombia in 1967. He has been living in the United State since 1994. He is the father of two young U.S. citizen children. He was the primary bread winner and support of his family before he was imprisoned for a non-violent crime of poverty. As a result, he was subsequently placed in immigration detention. He is currently detained at the Etowah County Detention Center, which is notorious for its terrible conditions. He has been in detention for almost 4 years.
Luis grieves for his children. They are emotionally scarred by his absence. Luis's prolonged detention has caused a huge financial strain on his family. He is driven by his love for his family to continue to fight for his right to remain in the U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE ) has the prosecutorial discretion to release Luis from immigration detention, so he may support his family while his immigration case proceeds.
