On May 23, 2019, the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act, H.R. 693, reached its 290th cosponsor (now 306) triggering a new U.S. House Rule that will now move the bill to the House floor for its first vote in 6 years of waiting. The bill should be voted on no later than the last week of July, 2019, but could potentially come to the floor for a vote sooner, if the leadership so desires. The measure will easily receive 400+ votes in the House, but we have an uphill battle in the Senate.
Due to the obstruction tactics of U.S. Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN), passing the bill in the Senate is going to require some maneuvering and some money. We must now ramp up our efforts, and we need your help. There are three action items below that will make all the difference in getting the PAST Act signed into law, and ending the scourge of soring that's persisted for 6 decades. Many thanks for all of your support for the horses.
