Urge congress to support DACA recipients before program is dismantled
This petition had 13,007 supporters
President Trump just announced that he plans to terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which is currently helping 800,000 young immigrants work and study legally in the United States. This program was created to help immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children-- those who are now just as American as any of us. This program has not given its beneficiaries citizenship or given them leeway in the case of a felony. It has simply better enabled them to contribute to the U.S. economy and society.
President Trump announced that he will place a 6-month delay before DACA's termination to allow congress to make a decision on the program. This is the time to tell Congress that we care about the survival of this great program.
I urge you to add your name to this petition, asking Congress to fight to protect DACA and work together to pass the Dream Act. It enables our country to grow socially and economically -- and it is the humane and just thing to do.
