It appears with what has happened this year with the pandemic, the Cecil and ProTECT Acts have been postponed with the hopes of being priority bills for 2021.

In light of this, a spending bill in the U.S. House of Representatives; H.R. 7608, was introduced which will in part determine funding for foreign affairs.  This spending bill included language to prohibit the import of sport-hunted trophies such as elephants and lions from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Zambia and was passed!!!

This. Is. A. Huge. Win!!!!!

This is amazing news and progress in the positive direction for the African wildlife who are critically endangered and are in need of protections.

The next step will be for the Senate to create their own version of this spending bill.  When it comes time for a vote for this bill in the Senate, I will do my best to send an update quickly, so you can call your senator to support this prohibition on trophy hunts.

Please know when you contact your legislators to support issues like protecting wildlife, your opinion counts. Always.

One quick phone call or email can make such a major impact.

Even though legislation for the Cecil and ProTECT Acts are postponed until 2021, we can continue to support these bills by sharing this petition on social media to make an even stronger impact when it is time for Congress to vote.

Wishing you and your loved-ones well.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Nicole @WildForChange
