To Abolish the Death Penalty

To Abolish the Death Penalty
The issue
The United States of America has been slowly turning against Capital Punishment, but there are still 30 states that think that the death penalty is an acceptable punishment for criminals. The United States of America is the only Western country that still applies the death penalty and it is one of 54 countries worldwide that still apply it. Capital Punishment needs to be stopped, on a federal level, and in all states of America where Capital Punishment is still in practice.
The death penalty is the ultimate denial of a humans rights. It is essentially a premeditated and cold-blooded killing of another human being by the state. This cruel, inhumane and degrading punishment is done in the name of 'justice' by the state. I believe that it is a means of playing 'God' and giving people the ability to say who lives and who dies. Murder is murder regardless or whether it is committed on the street, in a backstreet alley or by the state in the form of Capital Punishment.
Capital Punishment violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
I cannot abolish the death penalty on my own, so I ask you as my fellow human beings to fight for the right for people to live. People are still people, regardless of any crime they committed. And who are we as humans to play 'God' and decide who gets to live or die. Murder is still murder.
