Tell Members of Congress to Send CARA to the President's Desk by July 4th
The Issue
Dear Members of Congress,
Thank you for addressing the opioid crisis and the passage of both House and Senate bills, which represents the compassionate, comprehensive response to addiction in America. I now ask that both House and Senate leaders send the final bill to the president's desk for signature quickly and provided needed resources for this epidemic.
The Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA) and the House Opioid bills are the result of a three-year bipartisan effort to craft a comprehensive response to addiction that includes prevention, drug treatment, recovery support and law enforcement.
Families across the nation and in communities you represent are impacted by opioid addiction and overdose. With 129 Americans dying from drug overdose every day, more than half from prescription drugs alone; it is imperative that Congress address this epidemic as quickly as possible so we can save lives. We cannot afford to wait another day.
Please take action and send this comprehensive legislative response to the President and provide the necessary funding.
