Whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent, you need to be sure that your representative has no hidden agenda and is working transparently for you. Without an independent watchdog organization, whichever party is in power, members could take actions and make decisions which are unethical and don't have your interests as a priority. That behavior by legislators is unconstitutional. Section 1. of the 14th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution, guarantees that you have equal protection of the law.

Without independent oversight, leadership could use would be able to look the other way when complaints of wrong doing are leveled against any representative. You deserve to know that you are being represented fairly in our Democratic Republic. By keeping the Congressional Office of Ethics strong and independent, you have a much better chance of fair representation.
