Given the current administration, even if this petition actually gets any attention, I highly doubt anything will come of it. That said, no point in not trying.

The United States Navy currently has one Ford-class aircraft carrier - the most advanced carrier design in the world, with three more on the way; John F. Kennedy (CVN-79), Enterprise (CVN-80), and CVN-81 which remains unnamed.

Two of these carriers bear powerful names in Unites States history. One of its most beloved presidents, and a namesake that has been passed down for centuries. But now, as America faces new challenges, as well as the world at large, it’s time for a new name to adorne the Navy’s newest supercarrier.

Barack Obama fought hard to defend the people of the United States, and continues to do so, despite his being out of office. As a way of thanks, I say this unnamed carrier should be named for him, so, with luck, he will be able to faithfully protect this country in the years to come in more ways than one.
