Declawing cats is defined as "the amputation of the last bone of each toe" if performed on a human it would be like amputating each finger off at the last knuckle. Cats need their claws for balancing, walking, grooming, exercising, and more. Many people declaw their cats out of personal reasons such as scratching furniture, convenience, scratching of the person, lack of knowledge, rental requirements, and because others simply do it.
