Save Thousands of Turtle Lives By Making Turtle Friendly Fishing Nets Necessary

Each year thousands of sea turtles are accidentally caught in shrimp trawlers. Shrimp trawlers catch turtles instead of the desired shrimp. Turtle Excluder Devices (TED) help sea turtles escape nets through a tunnel eventually leading to a barred end of the tunnel. If shrimp fall into this tunnel they are collected in a bag at the end. If a sea turtle or large animal gets to this barred end they can open the little door and escape to freedom. Yet these devices are not required in America and thousands of turtles are getting killed within our waters, especially the southern states. These endangered animals need to be helped as soon as possible to save the species and our marine ecosystem.
