Brocode and other community advocates have come together to raise money on behalf of POE housing residents. Friday, a main water break occured in West Baltimore. Other areas were restored with running water. However, POE housing community has been without running water since Monday! Other areas have been restored fully functioning water.  Global.org have provided portable toilets. Generosity Showers has provided portable shower facilities on a trailer rig after viewing a massive outbreak of social media about the issue.  Portable laundry units have been provided but its very minimal, there are 300 units within this community. They are also far walking distance and residents are embarrassed to use the facilities. Many non-profit organizations have been donating facilities. They have advised residents to stay with other family members out of the area. They fail to realize that many people aren't fortunate enough to have family or may have family out-of-state. The portable toilets have a strong aroma for being used since placement, have not been cleaned since Thursday. Many residents are women with small children and elderly. These conditions are UNACCEPTABLE for basic human hygiene requirements. Fire hydrants have been opened to obtain water from working water lines but that is also UNACCEPTABLE. The residents are grateful for all of donations such as water, toiletries, hand sanitizer and food. But we have to take it a step further because multiple voices are NOT being heard by the Baltimore City Government. The funds will be used to provide additional water, food, and needs of the residents but we will also be supplying hotel suites to the residents until the water is FULLY restored and stabilized. PLEASE do not believe the news and what they show you. We have seen it with our eyes of what is NOT being done. HABC promised the residents relocation to other properties and hotel rooms. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. Residents were denied their first amendment rights by being told by the press what to say and what not to say on air. WJZ-TV Baltimore Local News Crew packed up their equipment and left. THE REAL TRUTH IS NOT BEING AIRED OR KNOWN. As of 6/24/19, HABC Staff has left at 7PM with no resolution. This is #Day9 of no water. Water pressure is currently at 10 PSI when it should be at standard requirement of 45 PSI.
