The crosswalk locations in and around both Patriot Elementary and Carson Middle Schools are proving to be increasingly unsafe with each passing day of the school year. No other schools on post are located on such a highly trafficked thoroughfare as this stretch of Harr Ave near Evans Army Community Hospital, yet they all have light systems attached to one, if not all, of their crosswalks- one of which actually stops traffic operating as a traffic signal to vehicles when activated. Why as nothing like this been implemented near Patriot and Carson? Why were TWO children struck by vehicles earlier this year before a particular crosswalk was even manned? All of this distraction and unpreparedness is what's safeguarding the lives of our children. Accountability must be held and changes must be made!
