COVID-19 is REAL, and will continue to spread, take lives, and have an impact on our lives if we do not do our part. Iowa currently does not have a Stay-At-Home order throughout the entire state, and large companies are still forcing members to work in risky environments.

Tyson's Dakota City plant has received several positive COVID-19 cases. It's not surprising considering the environment that employees have to put up with to get paid. With dozens of people working on a line of meat, there is no precaution taken, a person will be standing within one foot of one another, and are unable to find a safe and clean spot to eat meals. Before this week, employees were not allowed to wear masks to protect themselves, if they were seen wearing one, the manager would force the employee to take it off or be sent home. It is not fair to be treated this way, and it not only puts the employees at risk, but the families that these employees go home to kids, parents, spouses. 

My family currently works at Tyson’s Dakota City plant, they are afraid of asking time off because if they did, they get reprimanded. They're also afraid of going to work because they are at high risk of contracting the disease and affecting their kids and parents. 

Steve Stouffer, Tyson Fresh Meats Group President, states "Number one is our employee safety," but if that was true, he would have chosen to Shut Down.
