The band Atlas Genius has been wrongfully accused of sexual misconduct. Blatant, false allegations were spread by a scorned ex-girlfriend and ex-groupie of the band. 

The two devised a plan to ruin the band’s career out of spite. Through friends, they organized a very savvy social media plan. They tried targeting the band’s social media directly first, but the band blocked them and their comments. So, when Catfish and the Bottlemen announced the band as their support, it was the perfect opportunity to strike. 5 different friends of the groupie and the scorn ex-girlfriend launched a very well executed social media attack on Catfish’s Twitter & Instagram calling Atlas “abusers.”

This spread like wildfire within hours. It touched the biggest hot button subject of the day. Catfish’s young female fanbase ate it up and assumed that anything that a few people posted was true. This triggered an entire fanbase. Young women (unrelated to anything that happened with Atlas) who had horrible experiences within their own personal lives, latched on and joined the on-line vigilante crusade. They retweeted and even embellished the wording. Within hours, words like Rapists were being used in tweets by women in countries as far as Brazil. And none of this was coming from the original 5. Others were now doing the work for them. The original 5 even boasted on line tweeting “this is the year we take down Atlas Genius” and flaunting “how to get a band kicked off a tour.”

They directed tweets to festivals, radio stations and other professional music companies asking them not to book or support the band because of “sexual misconduct.” Ironically, these 5 were very savvy on their use of words. Others, who took it upon themselves, would take it to the next level with words like “known abusers” and “rapists.” The band has every right to sue for “tortious interference to do business.” These crazy rumors are costing them money and a tour.
